Our crowdfunding campaign on Ulule to build an educational, cultural and health center was a success!
For a year, our association has been located in a field which is on a temporary loan and consequently, we have been not able to build on it. To develop projects, we need a peaceful and convivial place to welcome the children. These children have extraordinary capacity to adapt and tremendous ability to learn and discover new things. They need a place where they are free to learn new skills and express themselves. For these reasons, we want to build an educational, cultural and health center for these kids. In view of this project, we have created the French association "Soutien à BEA" which aims to collect material and funds for this center.
We envisage that the center will incorporate the following elements :
We would like to develop money-making ventures which would allow our association to function and to be financially independent.
A few examples of such lucrative activities that we would like to establish:
- Create a cyber café (Note that we already have 6 computers)
- Sell organic cosmetic and pharmacological products made from cultivated plants in our garden (equipment has already been offered for this purpose)
- Rent equipment (e.g. bicycles, benches, tables and sound system)

Typically, large cities in Africa are polluted by household waste and Saint-Louis is no different. Unfortunately, plastic bags and bottles as well as other various rubbish are part of the urban landscape and it is common to see the locals disposing of their rubbish in the river.
At BEA, we think there is a need for an integrated environmental approach to improve the health and hygienic conditions of the children as well as the local population. That is why we not only must raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, but also include the entire population. Thus, we have elaborated a project entitled “Go Green!” which aims to raise environmental awareness to respect and protect the local area. The project objectives are:

•Inform of the consequences of pollution on people and their environment
•Explain that everyone has a role to play in environment protection
Transform an urban tip into a children's playground
•Clean an urban tip
•Recycle rubbish for the childen's use (e.g. swings)
Develop communal organic gardens in the districts
•Set up schemes to compost
•Get locals to maintain them
Reduce the environment impact of our center
•Use solar panels
•Use recycled materials for furnish the center
Encourage the sorting, collection and recycling of waste

School bus/
Care center
In Senegal, many children have to walk kilometers to reach their school or care centers. We wish to facilitate the school transportation of these children with a school bus. This same bus could also serve as itinerant care center and come to look after the children of villages.

Documentary
Most families of talibe children are not aware of the reality in which they live and often think of acting for the good by confiding them to a marabout. That is why we would like to make a documentary about the harsh reality of living conditions of these children to show to the villagers in Senegal and neighbouring countries, with a view to preventing them from sending their children to the cities.
